Sunlight on the water. The wind whistlin’ over the the trees.

I looked at my suitcase. The tears blurred my eyes in the breeze.

How I could stand to leave Newfoundland where everyone knew me by name.

Where I go, only I know, it can’t be the same.

There’s wonder in a journey. Filled with excitement and fear.

The signs pass and the counting could as well be in milage as years.

And even though, it’s good that I go, I couldn’t imagine this pain.

It’s strange how the ocean looks the same from this Halifax peir.

It’s been so long since I moved on and I wonder if anyone cares.

How I could stand to leave Newfoundland where the music still calls out my name.
