The 5 R’s
There are 5 stages we go through when we are preparing for a new CD. We call them the 5 R’s.
The 1st stage is the Research stage where we figure out what songs we are going to include on the project, and what topics we want to sing about.
The 2nd stage is the wRiting stage (if you ignore the ‘w’ it works perfect) where Maureen and Mark use their inspirations and research from step 1 to craft the wonderful songs that end up being on the project.
Once all the songs have been written or found we then enter into stage 3, which is the Rehearsing stage. In this stage we rehearse the songs that have made it through stage 2 and start narrowing down our choices to the ones we feel most excited about.
In stage 4, the Recording stage, the songs we have chosen from stage 3 start to come to life in the studio and we get to collaborate and work with some of the most amazing musicians around.
And now ladies and gentleman, we are ecstatic to tell that we are in the final stage of the process. The Release stage! This is when all the hard work has paid off and we get to share what we’ve been working on over the last number of months (and in this case 2 years!) with you. We are so proud of every song on this album and can’t wait to release it to the world… and beyond (we have big dreams for this one. We are thinking stratisphereical! ).
Thank you so much to everyone who has in some way helped with this project. It would not have been possible without you. We are so lucky so have so many wonderful people around us. We intend to have as much fun as possible touring this album and watching it explode on the charts! (the ones I have created in my mind)
